When we put our hopes in the world, they will be shattered like glass upon a rock. But when we lift our heads and set our eyes upon Jesus, He will give us rest and peace most assuredly.
How do I put my eyes, mind, hope on Jesus?
By reading the word of God, the Bible. Jesus was the word made flesh. He was the manifestation of God’s word in the physical that the Bible speaks of. He lived, He was crucified, He rose from the dead, He ascended into Heaven and is presently seated at the right hand of God on His throne, and His spirit was poured out to all flesh.
So when we read the verses of scripture that was inspired by God to be written, you will receive the knowledge and wisdom you need to know to be restful, in peace, and stable in all your ways because you stay your mind on Him and put off double-mindedness.
He is the author and creator of us, our world, and our lives and He has expectations of us; to fulfill the purpose for which He created us.
The word tells us that those who love the world and dwell on gas prices, politics, inflation, racist tensions and all the rest the world serves us in its abundance of evil, that we will be in enmity towards God. There will be no peace for anyone who chooses to focus on the world instead of what God has said and is now saying.
So what is God currently saying?
Love your neighbor as yourself and love Him, your God, with your whole heart mind, soul and strength. Live by faith by reading and doing the word:
- Feed the hungry.
- Give to the poor.
- Help the widows and orphans
- Visit the prisoners
- Cast out demons
- Heal the sick
- Raise the dead
- Preach the gospel to every creature
- Overcome evil with good
- Worship Him
- Pray unceasingly
- Reach the lost
- Walk in the Spirit of God
The Thorns
Yes, we all have work to do and we are all on different steps in His path for us, but what is stopping us from doing His will right now?
- Inflation?
- World War?
- Worry about money and politics?
- Fear of lack?
- Fear of the virus?
- Fear of death?
- Worry for the future?
- The world or the things of the world?
Don’t let the news headlines give you “head-lines”, as in lines of worry on your forehead. You are blessed through it all!
It’s time to get serious about our lives and obey what the Lord has already put in our hearts to do. Can we do it? Of course we can, but only because we have a great helper in Jesus Christ. It is written: greater is He in us than he that is in the world.
The Enemy
Who is ‘he that is in the world’? It’s satan, our enemy. The liar and murderer from the very beginning, the evil one who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy from us and our inheritance of God. When we study the word, we will know the devil’s schemes and plans against us, we will be able to test the spirit, and keep from the destructive path he wants us on. In doing so, we must become self-disciplined. We must train ourselves with God in obedience, faithfulness, truthfulness, trustworthiness, righteousness and godliness.
What does God want us to do today?
- Raise our families with Him leading us.
- Take care of our friends, family, neighbors; our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
- Prosper and be blessed by His leadings and teachings.
- Continue building His church.
- Raise disciples in the word.
- Grow in the ways the Lord is maturing us.
- Grow in mercy, grace and love for one another.
This is God’s will today for each of us, because He loves us.
You do not have to take my word for this, but instead research the word for yourself. It is good to test the words of men against the words of God and to test the spirits that drive man.
Have joy today. Have hope and peace today, not as the world tries to give, but as God gives. Jesus is the author of life and He knows best. Will we trust in Him or choose the path of the world and its troubles? It really is a daily exercise to choose the path of the world or the path of Jesus. May the Prince of Peace guide your steps.
Blessings,
Darrell
