Holy Spirit Warning: Potential side effects of being saved by God!
NOTICE: Being filled with the Holy Spirit may give you strange side effects. These side effects include:
Saying unexpected things. You may begin speaking in tongues!
Losing control of your tongue: The hearers of the word may not like it though. In one case the utterance may be information that the other person finds offensive – like the truth. In other cases, the person may become angry and enraged, curse you and punch you in the face for speaking the truth into their life. It happens!
Examples in the bible show the Holy Spirit causing:
1. babies to leap in the womb (Luke 1:41),
2. people to prophecy randomly (Luke 1:67, Acts 4:8, Acts 4:31),
3. people to act as though drunk with new wine (Acts 2:13),
4. people led into the wilderness ( Luke 4:1),
5. people filled joy (Acts 13:52),
6. your wretched soul being saved (Acts 9:17),
7. rebuke a friend for having little faith (Matt. 8:26, Matt 17:20, Matt 6:30, Matt 16:8),
8. rebuke an enemy of God: calling them a liar, son of the devil, an enemy of all righteousness and subsequently blinding them! (Acts 13:8-10).
It’s crazy to the natural world. It won’t make sense to the wise, but people will call you foolish and possibly mentally disturbed. Rest peacefully in the knowledge that this is part of the experience of being truly saved and used by God for His purposes by being filled with His Holy Spirit.
So – if you are a Holy Spirit filled Christian, be prepared to endure! You may be persecuted for it. In fact, the bible states you WILL be! (2 Timothy 3:12) Count the costs, endure your cross, and welcome an eternity with your father in Heaven!
