The Lord has been sharing with me the weight that many carry on their shoulders. The kind of crushing weight that comes from the world causing fear, anxiety, worry for all the troubles of the world. They feel like they are ours. Like each of us are required to somehow know about and fix them all.
Rising inflation,
fears of climate change,
fears of sickness,
fears of death,
Loss of loved ones,
money worries,
anxiety about the future,
fears for our children’s safety and well being.
We must know that we aren’t doing this life alone. God is walking with us and he takes our burdens, when we give them to Him, and gives us His yoke and His burden, which He said is easy and light.
This means in order to walk in the peace and joy our Holy God, we MUST yield to Him and make the transfer. We must give up our burdens. How do we do this?
We give up our pride and get on our knees and stretch out our hands and cry out to Him, “Abba, Father! Help!”
We must reach our end and stop thinking we are God (pride) and that we somehow hold the strength and power to carry the burdens this world gives us. We simply can’t. We were not made to. We MUST rely on Him to help us, strengthen us, provide for us, heal us, help us with our children, and all the rest.
We start by casting down our crowns and disposing of our fears and learn to trust in Him, to save us, deliver us, heal us, teach us, and loose us from the chains that bind us. The chains of this world. We are no longer caprltive! He freed us a long time ago when He died for us all. Jesus already paid the price for us.
I’ve been guilty! I’ve tried to lean on my own strength and understandings, use my own brains, use my muscle and power of will to get it done and become strong. I’ve made hundreds of thousands of dollars, jet-setted in a life of luxury, are the expensive foods, drank the over-priced wines, and lived it up! Only to find myself broken, depressed, relying on medications to temporarily numb the pain, while my kids suffered from a distant and angry dad, and my health began failing. Everything began failing!
None of the things of this world will ever fill the void of Jesus in your heart when you are not dependent on Him! While I skipped church and did what I thought was good and what I wanted, God was always trying to draw me nearer to Him. He never left me. He helped me through it all. He gave me an opportunity to start over and He has given me a larger family and is continuing to do so.
Do you want to talk about something the world calls scary? Trying having more kids at 50! But guess what? I don’t have fear because my wife and I have chosen faith OVER fear!
Why? Because God has proven himself faithful to us when we rejected the world a started learning HIS ways by following Him. His word and His promises have given us all we need to continue getting up and moving forward.
Has it been perfect and easy? By no means! But are we filled with joy and peace? Overflowing, everyday! We are still learning to yield, to bend our ears to Him, to give up our worldliness and walk with Him one step at a time.
I no longer depend on this world to fulfill me. I know it never can. But God fulfills and satiates my soul completely!
Why do I say all of this openly?
Because I know all the goodness that God has shared with us, He is willing to share with others. Especially the lost! It’s time to share our testimonies, our stories of faith, and all the moments where Jesus pulled us from the fire, healed us, delivered us, and blessed us so the world may see, for the first time perhaps, that He is good and He is faithful. Not only that, but He truly loves us.
I was once heavy burdened, but He turned my mourning to dancing. He set my heart on fire for Him, to do a his will, to help others, tell others about Him, to save the lost, to pray for others, and to have a relationship with Him now and for all eternity.
And it all started, because one day, I chose to give up, give my life over to Him, put my whole life on His altar as a living sacrifice, and to do His will. I yielded. And friends, I’d do it all over again. Yes, indeed. I counted the cost and Jesus is worth every bit of it!
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV
