Complacent:
“pleasing,” from Latin complacentem (nominative complacens) “very pleasing,” present participle of complacere “be very pleasing”. Meaning “pleased with oneself, self-satisfied.
Jesus Christ, the lamb of God, never came to live, die, be resurrected, and ascend into heaven in order for His followers to become complacent. While yes, the war is won by Christ (John 16:33), there is still more to do to make evil bow its knee to Jesus.
Many church-going Christians have become complacent with their role and purpose. We are to be warriors for Christ and must remain vigilant at the commands He has presented those who follow Him. We must not accept self-satisfying behaviors that steal away from God’s purpose and plan for our lives.
Isaiah 32:9-10“Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech. In a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come.”
Our children and children’s children are being seduced away by the masses from biblical instruction to deceiving spirits and the teachings of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). Many are being destroyed by drugs, alcohol, addictions of every kind, and suicide, all for a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).
Our elders are currently hidden away in nursing homes unable to help while the young are being systematically driven to worship Celebrities, the rich, the popular, and themselves through social media, new age beliefs, and through innovative indoctrination into the art of witchcraft and sorcery.
Amos 6:1“Woe to you who are complacent in Zion, and to you who feel secure on Mount Samaria, you notable men of the foremost nation, to whom the people of Israel come!”
Parents, we have been complacent in our duties in raising our children up in the ways they shall go (Prov. 22:6), and we are also failing to love our elders as we should too, by locking them up in nursing homes and restricting access for them to visit with each other and their loved ones in the name of safety. If we continue, we all will surely suffer for this. We must fight for them!
Our children are our fruit, our blessings, and our future and we have mistakenly allowed them to be raised up by the media (news, social, apps, and video), entertainment (music, tv, movies, gaming), and the doctrines of the deceived (new age, witchcraft, false enlightenment).
Proverbs 1:32“For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;”
Let us turn back to the church of Christ from which way we came and lean on the teachings and wisdom of our Bible given to us by our creator to know the true path. Let us embrace our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and give Him all the worship, praise, and thanks He deserves. Let us share His wisdom and guidance to our friends, family, neighbors, the elderly, the young, and all of God’s creation!
It is through God We will do well and it is through God we will be destroyed if we do not turn to Him, lend our ear, and receive the knowledge He has given us and the saving Grace our Lord Jesus Christ paid for.
It is time to not be pleased by the idols of this world, including ourselves, turn from the sin of complacency, and become the sons and daughters we were created to be. It is time to save the lost, truly love the people given to us, and do what we were commanded to do, all to the glory of God, our creator.
As I write this, I ponder what we can do with a new senior living campus being built across the street from our house. With four large multistory apartment complexes and houses. I am excited to see what the community will become and pray that it will be an opportunity to infuse the lives of young children with the lives of wise elders. I pray we do not miss this amazing opportunity for moments of pleasure obtained by complacency and convenience.
Please keep the young and the old in your prayers today. I pray we all learn to do this life the right way with Jesus Christ as our king.
You are loved. ❤️
