1820, from Hindi yoga, from Sanskrit yoga-s, literally “union, yoking” (with the Supreme Spirit), from PIE root *yeug- “to join.” Related: Yogic.
There are many stories how a person became addicted to yoga, could never find relief unless they did yoga daily or had pain when they were unable to do the poses for yoga. In other cases, people were attacked spiritually after they began yoga or tried to stop.
As a Christian, your head should never bow to any other God, your allegiance is to Jesus Christ. Every yoga pose is an active pose to worship a deity (god, demon, prince) in India. It’s the slippery slope the bible speaks of in Romans 6:13 and 12:1-2, to remain righteous and holy; acceptable to God.
