When we live according to the world, we can easily discount all the spirituality described in the Bible as religious mumbo-jumbo. I know I did at one point, but this error can be to our own peril. It is when we learn to discern the good and the evil in the world that we will better endure the enemy’s kingdom and its schemes to steal, kill, and destroy from our life and appreciate the Kingdom of God and the age to come.
When God revealed the truth to me, that the unseen is more real than the seen reality we live in, it changed my perspective. I can now recognize the heavenly hosts that operate with us in our world and of these spiritual bodies, the dark forces that can work against us. These are the enemies the Bible speaks of the kingdom of satan.
People aren’t our real enemies, but the spiritual enemies of satan’s kingdom are. This is a real challenge when do not recognize that these spiritual forces can operate against us THROUGH people, even our friends and family. Our best method of protection is to forgive and bless those we perceive as our enemies and pray for them and pray against the evil spirits behind evil.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Father of Lies
How do these forces operate against us? Through deception and lies. When satan first appeared to man as a serpent, he used deception to get Adam and Eve to trust him. He seduced them into thinking they could have the things they wanted (knowledge of good and evil) in order to know the things God knows, and to question God’s word on the matter.
We still do this today when we choose our ideas of what is good and evil over what God says on the matter. Should we lie if it helps us? Not according to God. Should we have sex with anyone we want to? Not according to God. Should we twist the truth in order to gain something of value while the person we deal with loses? Not according to God. Should we deal treacherously with our neighbor by allowing him or her suffer while we hold the power or influence to help them? Not according to God.

When we do the things we want not according to God, we aren’t in His will, we are in ours. And often times when we think we are in our will, we are really operating in the will of satan. This is where we are in submission (in the will of) to satan and in rebellion to God. This is sin and this is where we are in agreement with the enemy and likely under his control.
Satan’s kingdom is the world of dark forces (powers, principalities, rulers of darkness, spiritual hosts of wickedness) and we may be subjected to in the hidden spiritual realm when we sin.

Salvation through Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ came, lived, taught, died, and was resurrected from death to reveal the truth of the Kingdom of God and so we may be free from consequences of death IF we choose to give up our life and believe and follow Him. Though, while we are in the world, we are subject to satan because of sin just as Jesus showed us with the temptations in the desert, but we can be hidden in Christ by yielding to God and living and walking according to the spirit of God, who is the Holy Spirit.
We must also be aware of heavenly hosts that are angels in charge over us and there are many! Read 2 Kings 6 to see where we can have our spiritual eyes opened to see the forces working for us. It is also written that when we are working in the will of God that He will make our enemies have peace with us.
The unseen realm of the enemy is real, quite real. More real and permanent than the visible world we are currently living in. But you do not have to take my word for it. Study the Bible, research the subject, and pray to the Lord for Him to revelate this message to you personally. Believe and trust that He will, and it will be so!
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

When you do, your life will be changed forever. You will no longer be walking in darkness and tossed to and fro by the world or the present god of this age’s (satan) schemes against you. God will show you His plan for your life while you seek Him, follow Him, and do His will. The unseen realm will become more real to you than the present world you live in and God will reveal Himself to you so your personal relationship with Him can prosper and your salvation is sure.
