The word “correct” is rooted in Latin and its original meaning is to make straight or to bring to one accord.

Our God in His infinite wisdom knows how to correct us. Sometimes it’s with humiliation, but always it is done with grace and mercy. He is gentle and patient and endures our rebelliousness and sin. But Jesus paid the cost of sin, which is death, for all of us. This is why it is possible for any man, even the most defiled, deceived, deceiving, evil, and seemingly lost man has the possibility to be saved from destruction, through the redeeming forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

The Lord is patient and He is kind. He wishes that no one will perish, no not one. We were all created by His hands and are precious in His sight. In the sins of this world, we walk away from Him and seek out our own way, only to realize in the end that all paths lead back to Him. He is our creator and He is our judge.

Don’t Runaway

So as much as we would all like to runaway, from the suffering, the wrathful, the toil, the merciless, the addictions, the pain and the judgement, we are all here for a time and will eventually meet God face to face. It is in that moment that we all will know the truth, the whole truth, that is currently hidden from the wise of this world.

It is when we take His correction now that we can also receive His forgiveness and His mercy and grace that is extended to each of His children who find Him. Correction from what?

  • Correction from getting it wrong, from the pride of life, from the idea that we were self-made, from the evil knowledge of the world and from the lack of belief and faith in a loving God. A creator God who came to earth as man, taught and served those He loved, and died a criminal’s death on a cross. All in order to save us from our sin.
  • Correction from disobedience of His commands to love one another as we love ourselves and to love Him with our whole mind, heart, soul and strength.
  • Correction to be holy as He is holy; learn His ways, be as He is, love as He does and forgive others as He forgave us.

To correct is to love. To correct is to put one on the straight path, which is the same as making crooked paths straight. He corrects us because He loves us. If we love each other, we must be adept at correcting and being corrected by our brothers and sisters. Not because the are right and we are wrong, but because without correction we are lost. Lost forever.

I pray not one brother or sister is lost due to sin. I pray we all learn while we are still alive the art of correction with the Holy Spirit. I also pray we all are corrected to ensure an eternal life with God at the end of this lifetime.

Signs of Correction

What can we correct ourselves with today? What do we struggle with? What is the one (most common) thing that is bothering us about ourselves that keeps bubbling up tell us? Is it a correction we need to address? Is it something that the Lord has put on our hearts?

How about your dreams and sleep? Is anything keeping you awake at night? Are you having recurring dreams? These are all signs of a correction. It’s best to not run away from them, but to step into them, walk with it, and see what the Lord has to say about it.

Blessings to your eyes to see and your ears to hear the truth in this message. May the Lord give us all copious grace and mercy to be as He created us to be.

You are loved! ❤️
